Discover the Aaiotanga Community Space (ACS) which provides a rare option for informal gatherings in Auckland City Centre. Very affordably priced, family friendly, inclusive, warm and welcoming thisspace is particularly handy for city centre apartment dwellers whose apartment might be too small for a function they wish to host.

Our venue is a large lounge type environment with plenty of clear space to set up chairs or tables. It is perfect for meetings, workshops, classes, presentations, meet-ups, yoga, community groups, meditation, chess groups, kids classes, rehearsals, book readings, poetry, acoustic music performances - and much more. It could even be used as intimate wedding venue.

ACS comfortably holds 40 people seated and 50 people if standing. We have 2 toilets and a small kitchenette located in the foyer adjacent to the venue. Please note, this is a heritage building so disability access is limited. Please contact us to look around so you can decide if this space is suitable for your needs.

Discount Codes or even free use of the space may be available. If you are an unfunded community group please message or email [email protected] before booking and we can discuss your project and give you a code to use if you qualify.

Special Prices are available for Musicians, Artists and People wanting a private space to Meditiate on 7-10am Weekdays. Costs are $5/hr for Individuals, $10/hr for Groups (less than 12 people) and $15/hr for for Commercial use eg Meetings. The standard rate is $23 per hour and can be used for a private and community functions eg a birthday party, a meeting or to watch something on the large TV.

There is a surcharge of $16 per hour for Commercial Clients. Please message or email [email protected] if you are unsure whether this applies to you.

The hire of the space includes:

• Smart 88 inch TV very large! (HMDI cable included) suitable for presentations and workshops or perhaps a photo slide show for a birthday party

• Mood lighting for informal cozy gatherings and functional lighting as required.

• Tables. These are assorted sizes. A six seater solid dining table, smaller portable tables and small folding tables. These can be arranged classroom style for hobbies and activities or joined together as a large board table

• 40 padded meeting style chairs

• Couches & arm chairs.

• The furniture may be moved as required. We ask you to put it back again when you have finished. There is space to hold fitness or wellbeing classes or fill up the space with the padded chairs lecture style.

• WiFi and Power

• Bluetooth Speaker

• Whiteboard

• Use of the small kitchenette including the dishwasher. Meetings and activities always flow better with a bit of food and drink

  Our space is an inclusive and respectful environment. Whoever you are, will be celebrated in this space. We are proud supporters of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and are a safe space for the rainbow community.

Please note that the building is not yet wheelchair accessible though we do have a portable ramp that we are able to put in place when required. Use of this requires supervision by the venue hosts.

Catering and Alcohol

You are welcome to self cater your event at Aaiotanga. We have a small kitchen space with cups and glasses for up to 40 people. Plates, bowls and cutlery to serve up to 20. You are also welcome to use external caterers.

Please note that however you cater your event, you need to leave the space as you found it. Please book enough time to clean up the space and kitchen.

It's OK to bring small amounts of alcohol for a private gathering, but not to sell it. Any events that are open to the public / publicly advertised, must seek permission from Auckland Council for a liquor license.

Multiple Bookings

If you want to make multiple bookings e.g. every Tuesday evening or Monthly. You can do this by becoming a regular customer which means you can reserve whatever times you want but you don't have to pay until you have actually used the space.
